The Eaton system was colonized during the early twenty-fourth century and was an independent system prior to being incorporated into the Lyran Commonwealth at some point during or shortly before the Age of War.[4][5]

Sebastian Spears of Interstellar Expeditions acquired information about a Black Inferno BattleMech salvage and reclamation facility on Eaton III at high cost on the black market and offered it to Nik's Cavaliers in exchanged for a cut of whatever they could salvage there. Despite fielding a dozen or so 'Mechs, Black Inferno was unable to muster a defense strong enough to repel the Cavaliers' attack because most of them were in varying states of disrepair; they were delt a significant blow to their operations and Spears received a healthy return on his investment.[46]
