Standard Cluster Organization Structure
Clan Hell's Horses' beliefs in combine-arms warfare has led to the adoption of their own unique organization. In the standard Cluster, the first three Trinaries are a mix of OmniMechs and Elementals, with varying ratios depending on their function. The fourth Trinary is a pure AeroSpace Fighter unit, while the fifth is a Supernova of conventional armor and infantry.[11]
Standard Clusters are typically reserved for garrison formations, with practically all front-line units split between three common variants. The most numerous, Cavalry Clusters, employ fast light to heavy 'Mech designs, with few assault 'Mechs. Both conventional and Elemental infantry are fully jump-capable, and vehicles assigned to it are a mix of hover and VTOL, mostly infantry transports. Their primary function is for reconnaissance and fast-response.[11]
Strike Clusters are a balance of speed and firepower, using medium to heavy 'Mechs, vehicles and fighters. The amount of infantry is less than in the other two types, as Strike Clusters are commonly used for offensive operations. These units favor energy weapons, so as to avoid being tied down to supply lines.[11]
Assault Clusters features heavy 'Mechs and fightercraft, with infantry that pack greater firepower in place of mobility. These Clusters are used for defensive operations and siege warfare, with an emphasis on autocannons and missile weaponry. Ammunition concerns and the Clusters' slow speed generally keep them close to supply depots.[11]
