Clan Invasion Era

By the fourth wave of the Clan Invasion Coordinator Theodore Kurita was desperate to give his realm any victory over Clan Smoke Jaguar, and so meticulously prepared the defense of Wolcott. Selected as the battle site for the expected Trial was an area of foggy marshland with numerous trees, with reflective metal strips hung from the latter. These features would negate the Jaguar OmniMechs' superior range and scanners. In addition the two elite Genyosha regiments transferred to Wolcott were falsely listed as green units, and Theodore Kurita made certain that the Jaguars learned the identities of the two men commanding the defense - future Coordinator Hohiro Kurita and Shin Yodama. Both had humiliated the Jaguars by escaping on Turtle Bay and the Clanners would find them irresistible as a target.[34] [35]

In October 3050 the expected invasion was begun by the Mistweavers Galaxy, commanded by Galaxy Commander Dietr Osis. Osis issued a batchall to the defending Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery troops, with Hohiro Kurita answering the challenge with the following terms. If the Clan forces won they could have the planet, but if the Combine forces won then the Smoke Jaguars would have to give up four OmniMechs and two dozen suits of Elemental armor as well as swearing never to attack Wolcott again. Osis, initially balking at this suggestion, eventually accepted after subtle goading by Hohiro. In the ensuing battle the Jaguars were beaten thanks to the defenders' battle skills as well as the terrain advantage of the planet's wooded marshes. The acquired 'Mechs and battle armor resulted in the Combine being able to reverse engineer the technology and produce advanced designs, such as their own battle armor.[36] [37]

The stunning defeat of the Smoke Jaguars also contributed to ilKhan Leo Showers' decision to call for the Grand Kurultai at Radstadt that ended in his death and the stalling of the entire invasion.[34]

After the Combine's epic victory on Luthien in January 3052, the Ryuken units based on Wolcott were ordered to raid nearby Clan-held worlds, hitting supply caches and equipping resistance groups.[38] In the years after the Battle of Tukayyid Wolcott became a Combine outpost for anti-Clan activity within the Smoke Jaguar and Nova Cat Occupation Zone.[39]

During Operation BULLDOG Victor Steiner-Davion and the Second SLDF established a headquarters on Wolcott, and continued using the world as a base for offensive operations.[40]
