Planetary History[edit]

Reunification War[edit]

In the lead-up to Operation UNION HOLD, the Star League invasion of the Outworlds Alliance, Delacruz was a border world between the Draconis Combine and the Outworlds Alliance. The Star League Defense Force marshalled the Forty-third and Forty-fifth Brigades, part of the Fifteenth Division, V Corps on Delacruz prior to the invasion; the SLDF forces left Delacruz to invade Weisau in July 2581, landing on the Alliance world in August.[5][36][37]

Star League Era[edit]

Delacruz had long been a contested world, fought over by the Federated Suns and Draconis Combine, and was one of dozens of worlds that the Terran Hegemony targeted as a part of their foreign policy after the various campaigns of persuasion that expanded the Hegemony by conquest. Delacruz, like many other worlds, became a world jointly administered under the overall authority of the Hegemony.[38]

First Succession War[edit]

During the collapse of the Star League in the brief period between the end of the Amaris Civil War and the Exodus led by General Aleksandr Kerensky Delacruz evidently either lapsed into Federated Suns control or was annexed by the Federated Suns, but this wouldn't last long; in May 2787,[See Notes] the Draconis Combine launched an invasion of the Federated Suns, and Delacruz was one of the first worlds to be invaded. The Twenty-second Avalon Hussars were able to cover the retreat of the last Federated Suns defenders on the planet, with the Twenty-second's command lance covering the retreat of the last DropShip to launch.[13][39]

Third Succession War[edit]

In early 3025, the Federated Suns attacked Delacruz.[40]

War of 3039[edit]

The Wave One invasion of Delacruz went poorly, including the failed capture of the nadir recharge station, leading to outcries from major human rights watchdogs. Marshal Edward Valos commanded the Forty-second Avalon Hussars and Third Lyran Regulars against the portion of the Eighth Sword of Light that remained on world, quickly seizing whatever stores from the Combine units he could. Marshal Valos became worried when the expected counterattack of recovered Star League-era machines he had been warned about did not take place, and planned the pull out of his forces if needed.

Together with the Fourth An Ting Legion and the Eighth Sword of Light, the Second An Ting Legion finally arrived to face the FedCom forces. Arriving on 3 August, the Combine force under the command of the Fourth An Ting's Sho-sho Jophet Pati attempted to also take the nadir recharge station but failed. The land battle went more smoothly, with nine battalions of BattleMechs and two regiments of support machines at her disposal. Four of the 'Mech battalions embarked in the force's DropShips while two battalions conducted an underwater trek to the island of Goi-pa and the major military installation there. While two companies of the Third Lyran initially held the water-borne forces (a company of Second An Ting, and two lances each of the Fourth An Ting and the Eighth Sword),[41] the surprise airdrop broke the lines of Hauptmann-Kommandant Fey Nicols, who quickly retreated. Island hopping attacks continued for the next month. By 3 September, the Federated Commonwealth left the world in the hands of the Draconis Combine.[1]
