Planetary History
In December 3062 staff within the Domestic Intelligence department on Hamilton uncovered a coup in progress against Prime Minister Eddina Verrily, a supporter of Victor Steiner-Davion. Headed by Defense Minister Veralin Cauthon, an outspoken supporter of Archon Katherine Steiner-Davion, and backed up by the Chief of Military Intelligence, Raleigh Britten, with support from within the planetary militia, the coup attempt began with the mass mobilisation of the planetary militia, ostensibly on a training exercise. Intelligence operative Stratham Vole, a midlevel operative within the Domestic Intelligence division, was set on the trail to uncover the coup by an intelligence agent working in Britten's office and operating under the pseudonym Janet Hamm. Through manipulating third parties and arranging support, Vole engineered the retirement of Commander of the Armies Kurt Gimmer, a supporter of Cauthon, and also arranged the election of Commander of the Infantry Ty Blank in place of Gimmer, Blank being a supporter of Victor. The change denied Cauthon the support needed to make the coup a success - with Vole also learning afterwards that Blank and Hamm were lovers.[32]
