System Description[edit]
The Carcassonne system is located near the Chaumont and Josselin systems. It lies Spinward from Terra.[2]
System History[edit]
The Carcassonne system was colonized at some point during the Star League era after the end of the Reunification War.[3][4] Carcassonne vanished from maps during the Third Succession War,[5][6] indicating that the system had been depopulated or abandoned. At sometime between 3151 and 3152, Carcassonne reappeared on maps indicating that humans had returned to the system.[2]

Planetary History[edit]
Succession Wars[edit]
Carcassonne was settled due to expectations that the planet's abundant fungal growths could have medical properties. After it was discovered no such properties existed, research shifted to attempting to weaponize the fungi's unique Myomer damaging abilities. Carcassone's foray into biological warfare ended once it became obvious that the fungal spores couldn't be contained well enough to prevent them from damaging friendly forces or indeed the mech equipped with a weapon containing them. Apparently worthless, the planet was shortly abandoned.[34]
Dark Age[edit]
In 3149 Carcassone was resettled by Schattenwelt GmbH due to the company's CEO having stumbled upon old research notes. In June 3150 the young colony began hosting unique gladiatorial games in the world's fungus fields. Trivids of these fights have low sales but can nonetheless be found as far away as the Lyran Commonwealth's Coventry Province, a shocking amount of recognition given the games short history.[34]
