Planetary History
Early History
When Shiro Kurita launched his invasion of the Principality of Rasalhague in an attempt to annex the Principality and add it to the Draconis Combine during the 2330s and 2340s the brutalities inflicted by the Combine forces were such that many of the survivors fled from the Principality. In some instances, survivors from one or more Principality worlds banded together to found new colonies. Craftsmen and artists from both Kufstein and Predlitz joined with technicians from St. John and engineers from New Bergen to settle the worlds of Bensinger, Steelton and Toland. All three worlds were on the outer reaches of settled human space, cold and icy worlds that would subsequently be courted by the growing Rim Worlds Republic.[1]
Clan Invasion
In August 3050, as part of the Fourth Wave of Operation Revival, Kufstein was invaded by Trinaries First and Second Striker of Clan Wolf's 11th Wolf Guards. They were opposed by the 1st and 4th Kufstein Planetary Guard Brigades, which fought the invaders at Inston Beck, Nalley Valley and the Crow River; the extreme southern latitudes of these battle sites meant all of the fighting took place in nighttime conditions. The defenders were particularly ferocious during the battle, especially the all-woman 2nd Kufstein Mechanized Regiment, but remarkably the Wolf warriors took only light casualties during the seven-day conquest of the planet.[18]
