History[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

Formed during the early Star League era, the Twelfth Galedon Regulars shared a common structure with the other regiments of the Galedon Regulars, due to the threat posed by the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns. This common structure saw the Twelfth assigned a group of conventional regiments for support - five armor regiments and five infantry regiments, an artillery regiment, and a reinforced aerospace fighter wing. Second only to the Sword of Light regiments in priority, the various Galedon Regular regiments had excellent levels of supplies and a high level of access to new BattleMechs and equipment.[4]

Third Succession War[edit]

In early 2930, both the Twelfth Galedon Regulars and the Seventeenth Galedon Regulars bore the brunt of a major Davion offensive against Xhosa VII. Under the command of Brigadier General Samson Sakamoto, both regiments fought with valor but were severely mauled by the attacking forces. The Twelfth has always preferred speed to firepower, even as the DCMS moved away from lightweight regiments. During the Succession Wars, the Twelfth was often divided up into its component battalions and companies and attached to other units as a scout force.[citation needed]

In 3025 the unit was stationed on Matsuida.[5]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

On September 17 3028 the Twelfth landed on Wapakoneta alongside the 3rd Proserpina Hussars Regiment. They faced the 3rd Provisional Company of Wolf's Dragoons' Beta Regiment. The Third Provisional company was able to destroy the AeroSpace base established by the Combine units but was destroyed in the process.[6][7] Later the Twelfth fought the 2nd Provisional Company of Delta Regiment, but the Dragoon unit withdrew to Crossing after inflicting heavy losses on the Combine unit.[8] This left control of the planet to the Combine after nine months of fighting.[9]

The Twelfth was rebuilt with new recruits and joined the 8th Galedon Regulars, 5th Galedon Regulars, and 16th Galedon Regulars to assault Crossing. The Twelfth attacked the east face of a caldera where the Dragoons had set up their base but were repelled. After fighting for several days, the Regulars were repelled when the assault units of Zeta Battalion arrived.[10]

Ronin War[edit]

War of 3039[edit]

Defended the planet of New Aberdeen against the mercenary unit Cunningham's Commandos who were under contract from the Federated Suns.[citation needed]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Operation Bulldog[edit]

Dominion War[edit]

Federated Suns Incursion[edit]

The Twelfth Galedon Regulars, along with Ryuken-go, forced the 17th Avalon Hussars off of Matsuida. They then pursued the Hussars to An Ting, where they avenged the Hussars' destruction of the 2nd Galedon Regulars by inflicting heavy losses on the Hussars. The Twelfth then served as part of the assault force that took Kesai IV.[11] They formed the Kesai IV garrison in 3067.[12]

Tactics[edit]

Star League Era[edit]

Due to the high number of Sun Zhang Military Academy and Galedon Military Academy recruits within the Galedon Regulars, the Regulars often displayed fanatical loyalty and courage. However, the elitism displayed by these same recruits led to poor coordination between the Regulars and the attached convention forces, who were often used as cannon fodder.[4]

Succession Wars Era[edit]

In 3025 the unit specialized in reconnaissance.[18]

Clan Invasion[edit]

The Twelfth makes efficient use of intelligence gathered by its scout units. The regiment has become adept at attacking from unexpected directions and in ambush tactics.[16]

Jihad[edit]

The Twelfth was on Galedon V, alongside a sister regiment, the Twenty-first Galedon Regulars, when the Snow Ravens launched their destructive bombardment of the planet in retaliation for what they considered to be DCMS attacks. The bombardment resulted in an Age of War-era chemical weapon stored in a secret ISF facility being dispersed into the population. After the Snow Raven bombardment in mid-June 3069, Galedon was placed under quarantine, and reports from the planet had both the Twelfth and Twenty-first actively enforcing martial law as evacuees tried to escape what became known as the Curse of Galedon. Both regiments either died during the period in which the curse was active or during the extensive thermonuclear bombardment conducted by the Draconis Combine Admiralty to sterilize Galedon in February 3070.[1][2][19]

Color Scheme and Insignia[edit]

Suitable camouflage is preferred, though the 12th Galedon Regulars favor dusty tan or gray with off-white accents. The Galedon brigade insignia is a gray/white katana over a field with one blue and one black triangle. The insignia is placed on the upper right leg of the unit's BattleMechs or fuselage of aerospace fighters.[16][24][25]

The unit's regimental insignia was altered late in the Clan Invasion to a silhouetted crouching half-man-half-beast.[16]
