Planetary Info
One of the first worlds settled by the Azami, Markab is very similar to Terra's Middle East and North African regions. The land is dry and windblown, forming a single supercontinent. Several islands can also be found in Markab's oceans, but the settlers predominantly live on the main continent (Al-Qoranda).
Markab's economy is primarily based on the production and export of petrochemicals, particularly hydrocarbons and precious metals. The Azami quickly overcame the biological taint in the atmosphere, but DCMS forces were not immune to it.[6] After losing many soldiers, the Combine and the Azami came to an agreement that saw the Arkab Legions serving the Dragon.[7] As a result of the early conflict, many of Markab's water purification stations were destroyed in Combine raids. In fact it's only been in the past few years that water purification technology has advanced to the point that Markab's inhabitants can use seawater for irrigation.[1]
