The Hean system was the location of at least one inhabited world or construct, and as of 3151 was a Clan Sea Fox enclave within the remains of the Robinson Operational Area of the Draconis March within the Federated Suns.[2][3]

Hean is located near the Ankaa and Deneb Kaitos systems.[4]

System History[edit]

The Hean system was colonized during or shortly before the First Exodus from Terra,[5] and may have been one of the worlds rendered independent as a result of the Demarcation Declaration. Hean subsequently joined or was annexed by the Terran Hegemony prior to the Age of War.[6]

Hean was ceded to Clan Sea Fox in October 3146 by Julian Davion as payment for their transportation services during his homeward expedition across the Capellan Confederation.[7]

Planetary History[edit]

First Succession War[edit]

Hean was one of a small number of former Terran Hegemony systems initially claimed by the Federated Suns prior to the First Succession War, only to subsequently be conquered by the Capellan Confederation.[16] Annexed in early 2786, Hean and the nearby world of Addicks were the last of the Hegemony systems to be peacefully annexed by the Federated Suns, before the conquest of Towne by the Draconis Combine in February made it clear that open warfare was inevitable.[63]

The Capellan Confederation Armed Forces offensive began in early 2787 with the conquest of Angol, Rio, and Tybalt; with those invasions complete by August, the CCAF launched a second wave of attacks in October 2787, targeting Hean, New Florence, and Ronel. The Armed Forces of the Federated Suns defenders on Hean had been expecting an invasion since the Draconis Combine Mustered Soldiery invasion of New Rhodes III in May, but had anticipated an attack by Combine forces, not Capellans. When the Fourth Tikonov Lancers and Fourth Liao Lancers attacked Hean, the defenders found themselves outnumbered, in addition to the problems caused by facing CCAF tactics, which focused on a mix of hit, run and harass, rather than the more direct tactics used by the DCMS. By November all three systems had been conquered, leaving the CCAF free to launch invasions of Addicks, Ankaa, and Small World.[16]

Third Succession War[edit]

In the year 2920 forces from the Draconis Combine attacked the Davion defenders. The Legion of Vega units from the DCMS used their SHD-2K Shadow Hawks to good use severely damaging several key AFFS supply base taking though heavy losses. This plagued the Davion troops throughout the rest of the campaign.[29]

In the year 2996, forces from the Federated Suns and the Draconis Combine clashed over Hean. The vessel Red Eagle was known to be present in-system.[61]

Jihad[edit]

The Word of Blake conquered Hean in a quick campaign during the second week of August 3069 and incorporated it into the Word of Blake Protectorate.[54] In 3077, Federated Suns forces arrived in the system as part of Operation SCOUR, where they faced a previously unknown Space Defense System that destroyed the Fox-class corvette FSS Indefatigable and inflicted serious losses on the Fifteenth Arcturan Guards and Fox's Teeth. The Coalition forces withdrew from the system.[64][65]

  • In some Dark Age products, there is a Prefecture IV world listed as Hoan. Maps in the Jihad series of books and products set in the Republic Era confirm that the proper name is Hean. Technical Readout: 3025 also misspells the system as Hoan.[61]
