Overview[edit]
W-7 Facilities had been a mysterious production designation for Clan Wolf, originally used as the name of a manufacturing plant on the Clan world of Tranquil. It had since been expanded to include Inner Sphere worlds as of 3077, including the world of Weingarten. The W-7 factory was operating out of the Weingarten Industriplex, consisting of a number of mobile facilities used to manufacture spare parts as well as new vehicles and 'Mechs for Clan Wolf's touman.[1]
The Weingarten facility was actually a series of smaller industrial complexes that had been placed near easily-accessible resources. The only unifying feature was their proximity to the spaceport. After the Jihad ended, the Weingarten W-7 plants began refitting Inner Sphere BattleMechs to their IIC versions.[2] By the end of 3079, the facility hadn't lost any staff and was operating at full capability.[3] In addition, parts produced at W-7 were shipped to the W-8 Facilities for assembly.[4]
Part or all of the W-7 facility on Tranquil may originally have been a Clan Ice Hellion holding, as the Ice Hellion production facility on Tranquil responsible for producing the Ice Ferret OmniMech—then known as the Wolf Hunter—was captured by Clan Wolf during five years of conflict that saw the Wolves also destroy or capture eighty percent of the Hellions' Wolf Hunters.[5]
