Planetary Info
Geifer is home to the Capellan Institute of Lingustics, founded in 2978. The Institute chose Geifer for a simple reason: It was once the library world for the Capellan Republic. During the Second and Third Succession War Geifer and its vast library were heavily damaged by bombing runs. (The attackers allege that these bombing runs were inadvertent but no one takes them seriously.) The only areas of the library that survived dealt with the physical sciences and linguistics.[1]
The Capellan Institute of Lingustics has proved a boon for the Capellan diplomatic service and the Maskirovka. Diplomats trained here are skilled in how their opposite numbers think, based on writings from their homeworlds. The Maskirova has also cracked numerous codes and translated foreign documents with resources from the Institute. Beyond all that, the Institute is one of the few universities that survived the Succession Wars.[1]
