The Medium Pulse Laser fires short bursts of energy, unlike the standard Medium Laser. Due to the rapid cycling of the weapon, though, it is not able to reach the full range of the standard versions, although such rapid cycling allows a high rate of fire and overall will generally cause additional damage. However, since the destructive power of both the standard/ER variants and the pulse variant are generally equal in terms of beam intensity, the rapid firing cycles will also result in an increased heat buildup rate.
