The McKenna system was home to at least one habitable world or construct, and as of June 3152 was located in the Oriente Protectorate of the Free Worlds League.[1]

System Description[edit]

McKenna is located near the Sorunda and Fuentes systems. The world has several known biomes including forested regions and badlands and is home to a species of native plant reptilian hybrid known as gargaraffes which have an important symbiotic relationship with the native flora, namely the kubala tree. All native flora and fauna are noted as having an odd blueish hue.[2][3]

Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

McKenna served as the headquarters for the XIX Corps of the Star League Defense Force prior to the fall of the Star League.[24]

Late Succession Wars[edit]

In the early 3000s the planet was noted as being "governed by farmers" with dozens of farms and plantations stretching over a combined ten million hectares all ruled by a single family with an iron fist. The world served as a breadbasket for dozens of nearby star systems.[2]

In 3008 the mercenary unit Chloe's Cavaliers would spend several months on the planet, first under contract of Interstellar Expeditions for excavation escort of Fort Corregidor and then under contract with the governor as a replacement for the Steel Guard in pirate defense. The governor would later be revealed to be behind the pirate attacks as part of a plot to strengthen the faction of Anton Marik. The Cavaliers would leave soon afterwards, having lodged legal complaints with the MRB over the attempted kidnapping of its commanders child.[2]

Marik Civil War[edit]

During Anton's Revolt, McKenna would be a part of The Protectorate and as such was a core stronghold of Anton's rebellion.[25]

In 3015, the loyalist First and Second Regulan Hussars assaulted the planet, where they would encounter the Anton supporting Fifth Regulan Hussars. The First and Second, embittered by the defection of the Fifth, engaged in a vicious battle which inflicted nearly sixty percent casualties on the Fifth and forced them to withdraw off world.[26]

After the end of the Civil War, McKenna would fall under the direct control of House Marik.[25]

Dark Age[edit]

At some point between Anton's revolt and 3083, the world transitioned from a civilian governor to being controlled by the commander of its Militia. The capital and primary DropPort also moved from James City and its DropPort to Teufelshöhle with its nearby Königsmacher DropPort.[3]

After the dissolution of the Free Worlds League, McKenna and the rest of the protectorate would enter into a mutual defense pact with the Duchy of Oriente.[3]

By 3083, the planet was in decline, with references to infrastructure "falling apart from the inside" and the planet's inhabitants still being remembered as supporters of the rebel Anton.[3]

In late 3083, amid rising tensions with the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth, the then military head of state, Colonel Kenzie Malone, would attempt to secede from The Protectorate and willingly be conquered by the Commonwealth. Her officers and most of the militia opposed this and repulsed a mercenary-led probing attack on the world against the Colonel's wishes. The Militia would also call for aid from the Iron Guard, who would land on the planet soon afterwards to strengthen the garrison and take Malone into custody for treason.[3]

By the 3120s, McKenna was absorbed into the renamed Oriente Protectorate.[27]
