House Calderon was the dynastic ruling house of Taurus, the Taurian Homeworlds, and the Taurian Concordat. From its founding in 2335 to 3060, the Protectors of the Realm of the Taurian Concordat were all Calderons (with the exception of a single regent). Despite this, the Calderon line was fair, egalitarian, and pragmatic in their decisions.

Origins
Traits
Common
Members of the Calderon dynasty willingly led the Taurian people, despite the hardship of life away from the Inner Sphere. In order to get by, the leaders of House Calderon generally displayed the following personality traits:
- pragmatic
- libertarian
- resolute
- idealistic
- egalitarian
However, as the Taurian people originated from Inner Sphere refugees, wide-spread fear of outsiders also pervaded society, only to be reinforced by (virtually all) later dealings with Inner Sphere powers. Therefore, the Calderons (and the Taurian Concordat in general) also were:
- paranoid
- xenophobic
Less Common
In times of conflict with the Inner Sphere, the leaders of House Calderon were forced into some grave circumstances. Their actions given those circumstances allowed other traits to come to the surface:
- audacity
- innovation
- equanimity
Summary
Ultimately, House Calderon's actions always seemed intended to promote the greater good of the Taurian people. Whether the consequences of their actions actually were beneficial to the Taurian Concordat is debatable, on a grand or microcosmic scale.
On a grander scale, two glaring examples present themselves. The Calderon expedition chose to settle within the Hyades cluster in part because of the natural defense the Hyades asteroid field provided. When war came to the Concord, though, hiding within the asteroid field allowed the far-flung colonies of the Concord to be depredated. Further, while the military stance of the Concord may have indeed been necessary - especially given the early history of the Taurians with their two neighbors, the Federated Suns and the Capellan Confederation, but this policy drew the unwanted attentions of the nascent Star League. Through the Reunification War, the Taurian Concordat was transformed from a viable, powerful Periphery entity into a ravaged shell.
On a much smaller scale, the case of Amalthia Kincaid is another great example. General Kincaid was successfully conquering the Taurian Concordat during the Reunification War, with a minimum of casualties on either side. The Concordat, possessing a weapon which could only kill a seriously-ill person, assassinated the sickly Kincaid. The void left by Kincaid's death allowed General Amos Forlough to conduct war against the Concordat. General Forlough wasted did not waste any effort in destroying (literally burning) world upon world and slaughtering millions of innocents.

Notes:
* - It is unclear if Timothy Calderon is the son of Samantha Calderon's first husband, or Victor Taurens, but it almost certainly is one of these two. (The young) Samantha's first husband and two daughters were shot by a Terran Alliance firing squad in 2236. Samantha departed Aix-la-Chapelle in 2250 with Victor Taurens. Victor died in 2252, and Taurus was settled in 2253. If Samantha had given birth to Timothy Calderon after landing on Taurus:
- One probably would not conceive a child during interstellar travel, meaning any child by a third husband would have probably been born in 2254 or later.
- Timothy would have been at most 14 years old when he took the Protectorship.
- Firing squads do not generally shoot infants (may Terran Alliance firing squads do, though...). It is unlikely to have daughters old enough to be shot by a firing squad if you are not already 20 (reasonably, a young Samantha might have been 25 years old). This means that Samantha would be at least 38 (probably closer to 45) if she gave birth to Timothy by a third husband.

Notes:
* - though not explicitly stated, it may be implied that the Calderon line did not experience a succession crisis until the death of Marantha Calderon[1]
‡ - it is unclear how many generations pass between Amalthia Calderon and Caterina Calderon.
† - no information is given regarding whether Nicoletta was the child of Jentarra or Brandon. For that matter, it is likewise unclear if the line of succession remained unbroken between Nicoletta Calderon and Thomas Calderon, and how many generations come in between.
