Prior to the fall of the Star League, a majority of the planet's land area was devoted to meat-animal production while there was a major industry in the harvesting of the native Monongahela Tuna Shark. While not a likely military target in of itself, its strategic location between the Kathil and Novaya Zemlya systems and the Capellan Confederation border gave it a significance that required the presence of a SLDF garrison.[40]
