The Vindemiatrix system was home to at least one habitable world, Vindemiatrix III, and as at 3145 was located in the Donegal Province of the Lyran Commonwealth.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

The Vindemiatrix system is located near the Carsphairn and Zaniah systems[2][3] and consists of a dying class G8III primary orbited by six planets.[1]

System History[edit]

The Vindemiatrix system was settled during the Star League era at some point after the end of the Reunification War.[4][5]

Vindemiatrix III - more commonly known simply as Vindemiatrix - is the third planet in the Vindemiatrix system.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Vindemiatrix was best known for the Vindemiatrix Observatory, a university that focuses almost completely on stellar life cycles and planetology. This is understandable, as Vindemiatrix's yellow sun is dying. Though it will remain viable for several thousand years, between the world first being settled and the mid-thirty-second century more than fifteen percent of the native lifeforms had become extinct and another thirty percent were considered to be endangered. These extinctions and population declines were the result of human population and the changes that have occurred with Vindemiatrix's star.[1]

Until the end of the star's life, Vindemiatrix did offer several high-quality mineral veins and enough arable land to feed the inhabitants. The capital city of Brattleson's Depot was located on Scandavara. The Observatory was placed on Treshira, the world's northern continent. The final continent, Kressia, was almost totally given over to farming, ranching, and wildlife preserves.[1]
