The Shiba system was home to at least one habitable world, Shiba V, and as of 3151 was located in the Sian Commonality of the Capellan Confederation.[2]

System Description[edit]

The Shiba system is located near the Nukus and Pell systems and is Rimward from Terra. It is known to have at least five planets and a recharge station at its Zenith jump point as of 3079.[2][1]

System History[edit]

The Shiba system was colonized at some time during the reign of the Star League.[3]

Shiba V, or simply Shiba, is an important logistical and training world within the Capellan Confederation. It is orbited by one moon named Amity.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

The Andurien Secession[edit]

In October 3031, as the Duchy of Andurien and the Magistracy of Canopus attacked the Capellan Confederation, Shiba was the target of several Andurien "Liberation Units." These small irregular units used psychological warfare, sabotage and assassination to undermine the local populace's confidence in the planetary government. As the local government fell, Shiba was quickly integrated into the growing Duchy of Andurien.[18]

As the fighting in the Andurien Secession continued, the Fourth Defenders of Andurien was relocated to Shiba in 3033 to rebuild and recover from previous battles.[38]

By 3034, the Fourth Defenders had rebuilt most of their strength. However, the unit knew it could not defend Shiba as the Capellan Confederation turned its attention to retaking the world. By February 3034, the Fourth was in the process of withdrawing from the planet when the First McCarron's Armored Cavalry and the Third McCarron's Armored Cavalry dropped on world. Only a desperate rearguard by several companies of the Fourth's BattleMechs and armor unit allowed the bulk of the unit to escape destruction. Shiba had been returned to the control of the Capellan Confederation.[19]

The Victoria War[edit]

Shiba, whose defensive troops were moved to combat the Capellan March invasion of the Victoria Commonality in 3103, quickly fell to the Second Andurien Rangers in the Halas/Humphreys Invasion of the Confederation on 5 February 3104. While Shiba was quickly pacified, the Andurien troops were recalled back to the Duchy of Andurien before the end of 3104 as the Capellan troops quickly recaptured all the worlds previously lost to the Duchy.[32][33]
