The planet's moons create a heavy tidal stress which has dotted the planet with volcanoes and that suffers several earthquakes a year. The air is near-toxic. The planet is a jungle world, with forests teeming with life.<ref name=BTVG>"BattleTech Video Game", Planet Profile</ref>

The Umgard system was the location of at least one planet.[1] Colonized by the Capellan Confederation during the Star League era, it is located in what was then the Sian Commonality of the Capellan Confederation, close to the border with the Taurian Concordat and near the worlds of Smithon and Brinton.

System History

Umgard was first colonized by the Capellan Confederation, but between 2864 and 2890, the Confederation had abandoned many of its periphery holdings and moved their periphery border some thirty lightyears coreward; Umgard was mapped as an independent periphery system beyond the Confederation's borders as of 2890.[2] It last appeared on a 3022 map that showed it to be part of the Aurigan Coalition,[3] a political entity itself tethering on the brink of collapse at the time, and vanished from maps afterwards, indicating that it had either been abandoned, depopulated, or rendered too insignificant to merit further recording.
