The Umgard system was home to at least one habitable world or construct, and as of 3026 was located in the Aurigan Coalition, close to the border with the Taurian Concordat.[1]

System Description[edit]

Umgard is located near the Smithon and Brinton systems.[2]

System History[edit]

The Umgard system was first colonized by the Capellan Confederation during the Star League era.[3] After the Second Succession War, the Confederation abandoned many of its Periphery holdings and moved their border some thirty lightyears coreward, and Umgard was mapped as an independent system as of 2890.[4] Umgard became part of the Aurigan Coalition during the late Third Succession War,[5] a political entity itself teetering on the brink of collapse at the time,[6] and vanished from maps afterwards,[7] indicating that it had either been abandoned, depopulated, or rendered too insignificant to merit further recording.

Planetary History[edit]

At the time of its incorporation into the Aurigan Coalition, Umgard was considered one of the "more marginal" systems (alongside Gangtok, Heliat, and Mangzhangdian); it had lost almost all vital colonial infrastructure and was facing complete depopulation.[37]

Geography[edit]

Umgard is a jungle world teeming with life, but tidal stress from its two moons causes earthquakes and considerable volcanic activity that in turn creates a murky environment with a foul-smelling, near-toxic atmosphere that makes any machinery corrode quickly.[1]
