Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

During the final years of the Star League, Hyperion was the host of a Star League Defense Force garrison.[45]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Hyperion was one of the worlds attacked in the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. The defenders on Hyperion were of questionable loyalty, and didn't put up much of a fight[18] when the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces dispatched the Waco Rangers to capture the planet.[46] The defending garrison on Hyperion, the Ninth Rasalhague Regulars, withdrew to Satalice[47] and the Commonwealth retained control of Hyperion until at least January 3030, by which point the Lyran Commonwealth had ended the offensive actions launched as a part of Operation HOLDUR and was consolidating its gains.[19] Coordinator Takashi Kurita ordered the DCMS to halt all but the most promising attacks and assume a defensive posture; by the time the war was officially ended via a peace treaty mediated by ComStar[48] Hyperion had been returned to Combine control,[49] most likely either via a counterattack or as a part of the peace negotiations.

Clan Invasion[edit]

During the Fifth Wave of Operation REVIVAL, Hyperion surrendered to Clan Wolf forces in December 3051 without a shot being fired. This coup was achieved thanks to the diplomatic skills of the 352nd Assault Cluster's commanding officer, Star Colonel Erik Kerensky. He opened negotiations as soon as his forces arrived in-system, and when his unit landed on the planet days later the government had agreed to capitulate and the 1st, 2nd and 4th Hyperion Brigades turned over their weapons.[50]

At some point between then and late February 3052, Rasalhague commandos attempted to blow up the Simmons Dam and destroy the Thirteenth Wolf Guards with the resulting flood. Phelan Wolf's swift response enabled his unit to defeat the commandos.[51]

Dark Age[edit]

Hyperion was annexed by Clan Hell's Horses after Clan Wolf abandoned its occupation zone in 3137. The planet saw some fighting in 3145 between Hell's Horses and Jade Falcon forces when the alliance between the two Clans dissolved.[52]
