Planetary History[edit]

Clan Invasion[edit]

Rastaban was invaded by Clan Wolf in January 3052 as part of Operation Revival's Fifth Wave. At the time the planet was defended by the First Knights of St. Cameron, along with the First Rastaban Armored Brigade consisting of a battalion of 'Mechs, two regiments of heavy armor and a regiment of mechanized infantry. As devout disciples of House Cameron the Knights were at first unsure whether to fight the Clans or honor these descendants of the SLDF, but in the end they decided to uphold their contract with the Federated Commonwealth. When the Third Battle Cluster made landfall and began their march towards the capital Castle City, the Second made their stand at Hill 3032. Although they fought with much valor this was not enough, and an entire battalion was wiped out when they were surrounded and chose to fight to the last man rather than surrender. Most of the rest of the Knights died in the subsequent battle at Sanguine Valley.[8]

Dark Age[edit]

Abandoned by Clan Wolf when its warrior caste migrated deeper into the Inner Sphere in 3137, Rastaban was annexed by Clan Jade Falcon.[15]

IlClan Era[edit]

During Operation STAMPEDE, Clan Hell's Horses dispatched the Third Horde Cluster to secure Rastaban. Arriving in March 3151 the Third was opposed solely by Falcon paramilitary police, and the Horse commander claimed the planet after winning a Trial of Possession involving hand-to-hand combat with the police chief.[17]

Notes[edit]

  • There appears to be some confusion regarding the deployment of the Knights of St. Cameron on Domain. The 20 Year Update sourcebook has the 1st Regiment of the Knights of St. Cameron listed as stationed on Rastaban in 3050, but Wolf Clan Sourcebook, printed after the 20 Year Update, lists the 2nd Regiment as defending Rastaban in 3052. However, Historical: War of 3039, the most recent of the three books, provided info that it was the 1st Regiment that was stationed on Rastaban in 3040. While it is possible that the two regiments may have switched deployments there is no evidence to show this happening nor sound reasoning to back the position up. So this article is written to show the 1st Regiment as present on world in 3052 and the reference to the 2nd Regiment in the Wolf Clan Sourcebook is considered to be in error.
  • The planetary capital in Wolf Clan Sourcebook is named Castle City while in the IlClan it is called Castle Hill. It is unknown whether this was a writer's error, the two are separate locations and the capital was moved, or if it is the same site re-named.
