The Antares system is the location of at least one habitable world, Antares I, and as of July 3152 was located in the Clan Jade Falcon Free Zone.[3]

Antares is located near the Babaeski and Morges systems.[4][5]

System History[edit]

The Antares system was settled at some point during the Age of War by the Lyran Commonwealth.[6][7]

Planetary History[edit]

Star League[edit]

Antares was the site of a Star League Defense Forces replenishment and supply base during the reign of the Star League. However, with the coming of the Succession Wars, this knowledge would be lost to the inhabitants of the world.[17]

Clan Invasion[edit]

When Wave Four of Operation REVIVAL began, Clan Jade Falcon considered Antares a high value target. Their Star League era records showed the location of the old supply base on Antares and the Falcon Khans wanted it taken at all costs. Antares itself was lightly defended as the Federated Commonwealth did not consider the world to be of major strategic importance as they had no knowledge of the old SLDF base.[17]

Clan Jade Falcon's Delta Galaxy landed on Antares with heavy aerospace support which destroyed the defenders fighters while on the ground. Despite the militia's valiant efforts, Antares City fell quickly to the Clan invaders. The town of Alba would prove a far more difficult objective however. Unknown to the inhabitants of Alba, their town sat on top of the SLDF base that the Falcons wanted to capture. Also, the town of Alba contained the planet's largest water purification facility. The Jade Falcons did not want either prize heavily damaged so were forced to assault the town street by street. This resulted in one of the bloodiest battles of Wave Four of the Invasion with the Second Falcon Jaegers suffering particularly heavy losses.[17]

The Jade Falcons were able to change their tactics however when Khan Elias Crichell's logistics officer confirmed that they would be able to ship in a new water purification plant from the Clan Homeworlds in two and a half months. With that knowledge, the Jade Falcon's were able to release their aerospace fighter forces and bomb the town flat. The defenders of Alba soon surrendered to the Falcons and then were astounded to see Clan engineers begin excavating the SLDF base that had been beneath their feet.[17]

The old SLDF facility made Antares a major prize. So the Jade Falcon's rage at Clan Wolf increased when IlKhan Ulric Kerensky forced them to share Antares with Clan Steel Viper in Wave Five of the invasion. With two Clans on world, the SLDF site became the goal of many vicious Trial of Positions.[17]

  • Antares is not the real life star Antares, but a smaller, nearby star named after it.[2] The real Antares is a red supergiant, the brightest star in the constellation Scorpio.
