Ironhold II

Template:InfoBoxPlanetStandard Controlled solely by Clan Jade Falcon, Ironhold was the Falcons' capital as well as the location of their primary training and manufacturing facilities in Clan Space. Their capital city of the planet was named Ironhold City.

History

Ironhold was colonized by the nascent Clans at some point during the first two decades of the 29th Century and was initially divided between Clans Jade Falcon, Wolf and Ice Hellion. By 2819 the Falcons had driven the other two Clans off and controlled Ironhold exclusively for the next two and a half centuries until late 3069 when the planet fell to a massive Steel Viper assault. Taken by the Society three years later, Ironhold was abandoned as a habitable world by 3075.[2] [8] [10]

The Widowmaker Absorption

The Steitz Plains of Ironhold were the site of Clan Widowmaker's Trial of Refusal in October 2834 against their Absorption by Clan Wolf. A close-fought battle was waged by both Clans' warriors, until the rival Khans Jerome Winson and Cal Jorgensson squared off in single combat. As Winson gained the upper hand a Star of Widowmaker 'Mechs illegally intervened, setting off an all-out brawl when ilKhan Nicholas Kerensky and other Khans of the Grand Council moved to aid Winson. In the confusion Jorgensson by accident or design slew ilKhan Kerensky, inciting a furious Winson and his enraged Wolves to scour Ironhold and wipe out the Widowmaker presence on that world.[11] [2]

In the aftermath of Kerensky's death, a memorial was erected over the site of his slaying and received visitors from all of the Clans.[2]

The Wars of Reaving

In November 3069 the Steel Vipers initiated an assault on Ironhold as part of the Wars of Reaving. The entire Alpha Galaxy landed on the world after declaring the defenders dezgra. The Twelfth Talon and Zeta Solahma Clusters held out for a month before being destroyed.[12]

Three years later, an unidentified force landed at Ironhold and shattered the defenders. This 3072 strike was the first open action made by The Society. The Steel Vipers' Omicron Galaxy was totally destroyed.[13] After-action reports indicate that Ironhold was a key world for The Society, housing much of their research.[14]

In March of 3077 Clan Coyote's Zeta Galaxy's 69th Strike Cluster landed on Ironhold as part of the effort to eliminate the Society from Clan Space. Led by Zeta's Galaxy Commander, Noemi McKibben, the Cluster engaged Society forces on the planet, where the 69th Strike would raze the Society's Enclave, a facility which had contained number of genetically mutated sibkos, all of which were killed as soon they were discovered. The Cluster would end up attacking another hidden enclave in the Peregrine Mountains. This enclave would be the last stand for the Society, where their forces mounted a desperate and ultimately doomed counterassault. In the end the Coyote Cluster burned all resistance to ash.[15]
