===Geography===
Kaus Media is a pleasant, terrestrial world with wide, deep oceans, expansive forests and jungles, and varied—yet normally mild—seasons. Yet, for all its natural splendor, the first colonists to explore and exploit this world quickly realized that the lack of easily reached indigenous metals and minerals would doom all efforts to develop their new home. The ancient city of DeGuilles was destroyed and never rebuilt and the new planetary capital, Vanguard City, located just forty kilometers to the north on the continent of Emparos, governs the affairs of this world, and maintains a diplomatic office for the benefit of its neighbor. Aside from Emparos, Kaus Media‘s other four major continents are Romana, Hyadamos, Gaul, and Normano. All but Gaul, the planet‘s frozen south polar continent, are populated with various small and medium-sized commercial and rural towns scattered along the shores of various rivers and lakes.<ref name=DARWp16/>

The Kaus Media system was home to at least one habitable world or construct and as of 3152 was located within the Rasalhague Dominion.[2]

System Description

Kaus Media is located near the Kaus Australis and Nai-Stohl systems. It has at least five planets and lies Coreward from Terra.[1][2]

System History

The Kaus Media system was colonized during or shortly after the First Exodus from Terra.[3]

Planetary History

Unlike its nearest neighbor, Kaus Australis, Kaus Media had nearly everything the early colonists needed to make a successful colony: Foodstuffs, water, and temperate climate. The only thing they lacked was any sort of easily accessed mineral resource to build industry. After discovering that Kaus Australis had the opposite problem, traders from Kaus Media rapidly established mutually beneficial trade agreements that allowed both worlds to survive.[1]

Succession Wars

The strong bonds forged between these two worlds served them well until the First Succession War. Agents of the Lyran Commonwealth tried to turn the worlds against their Draconis Combine masters. Pushing too far, the Draconis Combine Admiralty arrived with several WarShips and destroyed the city of DeGuilles, home of the government departments that oversaw both of the Kaus planets. Kaus Media and Kaus Australis quickly sued for peace and got back to their trade agreements. Each world now oversees more of its own affairs, but they do maintain a close relationship. It is important to note that generally the residents of Kaus Australis and Kaus Media are not disloyal to the states that oversee them; rather they tend to think of the effect any proposal will have on their worlds first and the overseeing state second.[1]

Chism and Kurita Duel

In September 3046, Baron Rider Chism and Count Carson Kurita would duel to the death in an end to a long running feud between the two families.[49]

Jihad

Kaus Australis and Kaus Media were both occupied by the Word of Blake during the Jihad; forces from Clan Ghost Bear assaulted both worlds simultaneously on 6 October 3075, shortly after the Ghost Bears had agreed to support Devlin Stone's allied coalition.[50][51]

Dark Age

Pirate forces coming from the Draconis Combine attacked the planet, but where repulsed by elements of the Kaus Media Planetary Militia while the pirates tried to raid the city of Grand Moraine. MechWarrior Jason Tuna engaged the pirate leader and his actions won the day for the militia.[52]
