The Axton system was home to at least one habitable planet, Axton III, and as of 3145 was located in the Kathil Operational Area of the Capellan March within the Federated Suns.[2][3]

System Description[edit]

Axton is located near the Acala and Westphalia systems[4] and consists of a class K2V primary orbited by at least three planets.[1]

System History[edit]

The Axton system was settled at some point prior to the Age of War, and was a member of the Sarna Supremacy when the Capellan Confederation came into being in 2366.[5]

Axton III, more commonly known simply as Axton, is the third planet in the Axton system and has been host to both an industrial facility belonging to Wangker Aerospace and a training facility operated by the New Avalon Institute of Science. Axton has two moons named Greenback and Jerimiah.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Second Succession War[edit]

In October 2829, the Davion Heavy Guards and Third Ceti Hussars landed on Axton as a part of Operation RAIN—one of two offensives into the Capellan Confederation being conducted simultaneously (the other being Operation SUN). The defending Third Liao Lancers fought a handful of minor clashes, despite being heavily outnumbered, before deciding to withdraw rather than be destroyed.[14]

Third Succession War[edit]

In 3001, Capellan Confederation-sponsored agents operating under the aegis of the Maskirovka destroyed an ore refinery on Axton. This was considered a major success, indicating that the facility was rather large or important.[39]

The Jihad[edit]

In the Jihad era, on Axton housed a NAIS College of Military Sciences Training Facility at Fort Vanders on the continent of Navidad. This facility trained infantry, battle armor, BattleMech, and conventional vehicle senior classmen who couldn't finish their studies at the NAIS while it was rebuilding.[1]

Geography[edit]

Axton has four continents named Magdalena, Momposina, Navidad, and Pesares. Magdalena is a temperate continent; both Momposina and Navidad are icy landmasses, Momposina located in the far north and Navidad in the far south.[1]
