Planetary History

Age of War

Lackhove was one of seven worlds settled by colonists from the Rim Worlds Republic between 2334 and 2338 as an attempt by Maxwell Rowe to create a buffer zone between the Republic, the Draconis Combine, and the Tamar Pact.[3]

Star League Era

By the end of the Age of War Lackhove was a member of the Apollo Province of the Rim Worlds Republic.[40] In 2573 discontent was simmering, and First Consul Gregory Amaris tried to tamp it down with the Universal Act of Loyalty. A group of miners on Lackhove who had placed an embargo on all Inner Sphere goodshad to be starved into submission before they would sign it.[41][42] It proved not to be sufficient as civil war erupted in the Rim Worlds Republic in 2575, with the factions polarized around those loyal to Amaris and those loyal to the Rift Republican Army and the Rim Provisional Government.[43]

The Star League eventually decided to intervene in the civil war in support of Gregory Amaris, and in 2579 assembled Task Force MAILED FIST to help secure Amaris' control over the Rim Worlds Republic. A multinational force headed by the Star League Defense Force, Task Force MAILED FIST was responsible for executing Operation MAILED FIST, the name given to the military intervention. The first wave of attacks focused on securing significant worlds near Apollo,[44] until a destructive raid on Alarion by the Fourth Amaris Fusiliers in retaliation prompted the SLDF to alter its initial strategy for the campaign, the focus shifted to reducing Rim Worlds Army concentrations throughout the Republic and the capture of key worlds.[45]

In late 2584 the SLDF changed tactics again; a number of major RWA units had been destroyed or captured, and the focus for the campaign shifted to capturing worlds of strategic importance, but the campaign was slowed by the greatly increased resistance offered by the RWA and local civilian populations, prompted by atrocities performed by the Draconis Auxiliary Corps when they captured Nightwish in mid-2584.[46]

General Nathan Isaacson assigned a division from IV Corps, the Eleventh Royal Division, to the conquest of Lackhove in 2593. The Star League forces successfully took control of Lackhove,[47] defeating the local militia forces, and remained in place as the local garrison until the Eleventh was redeployed for the invasion of Anywhere in 2594.[48]

Third Succession War

In late July 3025, pirates from Lackhove attacked Anywhere, but this time plundered nearly fifty people, including the governor's daughter, in addition to physical loot. The governor of Anywhere drew the line at that, and launched a rescue mission. After hitting the pirate base on 3 August, they rescued the people only to run into a Combine force as they were preparing to withdraw.[49]

Fourth Succession War

As an insurance policy against possible duplicity by Hendrik Grimm III in negotiations Maria Morgraine positioned her DropShip Winged Vengeance on Lackhove with orders to leapfrog across Grimm's realm causing as much damage as possible if something untoward happened to her.[50]

Operation REVIVAL

Clan Jade Falcon conquered Lackhove during the opening stages of Operation REVIVAL, the Clan invasion of the Inner Sphere. Khan Elias Crichell would then order that most of the Jade Falcon supplies be stationed on Lackhove to free up as much space on the Falcon's JumpShips for the next waves of Operation REVIVAL.[51]

Operation Ice Storm

Lackhove was invaded for a second time in mid-3071, when forces from Clan Ice Hellion captured the world from the Falcons as part of the Operation ICE STORM: the invasion of the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone.[52][53] The Ice Hellions were only able to hold Lackhove until October, however, when the world was recaptured by the Jade Falcons.[53]

ilClan Era

Lackhove was hit by heavy raiding from pirates bearing the markings of the New Oberon Confederation, led by Abdoun Ricol.[54]
