Planetary Info
Mira was originally an independent planet that became swept up in conflicts between the newly-formed Tikonov Grand Union and the Marlette Association in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. Although Mira was claimed by both states at the end of the 23rd century, the Marlette Association annexed Mira by 2306.[2] With the election of General Diana Chinn to the Tikonov Tetrarchy in 2307, the Tikonov Grand Union began an ambitious gamble against the Marlette Association, and a number of Marlette Association worlds were invaded and annexed in short order. Tikonov Grand Union forces commanded by Diana Chinn invaded Mira in 2309; Tikonov forces took 16 weeks to capture the capital of Mira, killing the local commandant of the Marlette forces, before taking another seven Marlette strongholds in 4 weeks. The Tikonov campaign stopped in mid-May 2309 when Dianna Chinn died under mysterious circumstances, leading to the Tikonov Expeditionary Force withdrawing from Mira.[33]
At some point between 2309 and 2343 the Tikonov Grand Union successfully annexed Mira, but in 2344 the Federated Suns occupied Mira.[3] The Federated Suns President, Reynard Davion, used two task forces as a distraction at the world of Mirach to launch an attack using a third, reserve force, mustered in secret in the Achernar system, against Almach. Not only is Almach close to Mira, but at this point in time the lines of communication and support for Mira and the nearby world of Mesartim ran through Almach, leaving both worlds vulnerable. When the Tikonov Grand Union was forced to sign the Almach Accord in 2346, the Grand Union accepted Federated Suns ownership of Mira.[4][34] Reynard recognised Mira as an independent member world within the Federated Suns - giving Mira a higher standing than it had enjoyed as a member of the Chesterton Trade Worlds under the Grand Union - and founded a number of settlements there.[35]
Mira had been split up into multiple separate land grants for various Capellan nobles from the Tikonov Grand Union, and after the world was taken by the Federated Suns, these estates were converted into museums.[1] Mira is known today for its textile production, sea-based mining operations, and some light and heavy industry. The sea mines are the most widely known industry, and Mira is home to the inventor of the Molotosky purification process. This process economically converts seawater into fresh water and minerals that can be sold for further industrial processes.[1]

Notes
A rather detailed apocryphal description of the planet was published in BattleTechnology #0203 (= Issue 5) as part of that magazine's "Worldbook" series. It establishes Mira as a high-gravity world (1.8g) with exceptionally dense jungles and very high ambient temperatures.
