Planetary Info

Hamal is a cold world that mostly consists of frozen tundras scoured by huge sandstorms. With so little variation in climate, the population leads a mostly nomadic lifestyle. The only major city, Califa Hamal, was established on the equator. Temperatures here do occasionally rise above freezing, which means it's positively tropical by Hamal's standards.

Originally part of the Tikonov Grand Union, Hamal was annexed by the Terran Hegemony. The Capellan Confederation held the world for most of the Succession Wars, but the Federated Suns took it in the Fourth Succession War. It remained under Federation control for the next four decades when ambassadors from the Word of Blake convinced the population to join their Protectorate. Even after the Jihad ended, many inhabitants of Hamal still followed Blakist theology.[1]
