Planetary History

In 3005, the planet was conquered by the Federated Suns. However, a resistance movement, the Kittery Tong, soon sprang up that kept the world a war zone for many years.[10][11][12][30][31]

The Black Angus Boys were contracted by the Word of Blake to raid the planet in October 3068.[32] A month later, the Word of Blake Thirteenth Division conquered Kittery on the 9th of November, destroying the First Kittery Borderers as they did so. The attack was done under false flag, and the Blakists claimed that Kittery was being conquered in the name of the Capellan Confederation,[18] but as the Jihad went on the Word of Blake operated a number of "reeducation camps" on Kittery. With the assistance of David Lear, a group of resistors led by the future leader of the Republic of the Sphere, Devlin Stone, escaped from one of these facilities early in the Jihad. Stone and his followers broke out of camp RBMU 105 on 18 March 3071.[33] They started a guerrilla campaign against the WoB forces. On 12 October 3071, the resistance managed to defeat the last of the Word of Blake forces on Kittery (the Thirteenth Division and the Kittery Protectorate Militia,[19][20] by shattering and flooding "The Divine Tranquility" facility,[34] and in late April 3072 Stone announced the creation of the Kittery Prefecture after defeating Blakist puppet governments on the nearby words of Gurnet and Scituate.[20][21]
