Planetary History
 +
Early History
 +
Having become independent as a result of the Demarcation Declaration, Ko was subsequently added to the resurgent Terran Hegemony; whilst some worlds joined the Hegemony during its early years as a result of diplomatic and trade incentives, many more were conquered in "campaigns of persuasion" launched by Director-General James McKenna, the first of which began in 2316 and ended with the capture of Towne in 2317. Ko was one of the worlds added to the Hegemony during or around the time of this first military campaign.

Ko was one of the worlds attacked in the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. Ko was one of the worlds that was abandoned by the Terran Alliance following the Outer Reaches Rebellion and the Demarcation Declaration of 2242,[2] but by the end of the Reunification War Ko had become one of the worlds within the Lone Star Province of the Terran Hegemony.[8]

Ko is a world blessed with large amounts of arable land. Though there are some desert areas that are occasionally troubled by sandstorms, the majority of the planet served as a breadbasket world for the Terran Hegemony and the Draconis Combine.[1] Taken by the Lyran Commonwealth during the Fourth Succession War, Ko formed part of the Lyons Thumb. This region was guarded by Combine provided "peacekeepers" during the FedCom Civil War, and later returned to the Draconis Combine after that conflict ended.[1]

Planetary History[edit]

Early History[edit]

Having become independent as a result of the Demarcation Declaration, Ko was subsequently added to the resurgent Terran Hegemony; whilst some worlds joined the Hegemony during its early years as a result of diplomatic and trade incentives, many more were conquered in "campaigns of persuasion" launched by Director-General James McKenna, the first of which began in 2316 and ended with the capture of Towne in 2317. Ko was one of the worlds added to the Hegemony during or around the time of this first military campaign.[67][2][68]

Fourth Succession War[edit]

Ko was one of the worlds attacked in the opening wave of Operation GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, the major Lyran Commonwealth offensive of the Fourth Succession War. The defenders on Ko were of questionable loyalty, and didn't put up much of a fight[32] when the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces dispatched the Third and Seventh Regiments of the Twelfth Star Guards to capture the planet.[69]

Jihad[edit]

During the Jihad Ko was occupied by forces from the Word of Blake. As the allied coalition created by Devlin Stone began striking against Word of Blake Protectorate worlds the combined Clan Ghost Bear and Clan Snow Raven task force which had agreed to support the coalition struck at a number of Blakist worlds on 21 July 3076. Ko was one of the worlds targeted by the Clan forces, along with the nearby worlds of Dyev, Kervil, Lambrecht, Moore, and Sabik;[70][71] the ground forces that fought on Ko were drawn from the Ghost Bear's Xi Galaxy.[72]

The Word of Blake subsequently raided the world several times to disrupt supply chains for Operation SCOUR. The most notorious of these attacks was the introduction of a blight on the Jingatu continent that destroyed 40% of all the crops there and sterilized the soil. The other continents were able to make up the difference, but it took several years for the local population and industry to recover.[1]
