Description
The Extralight Fusion Engine, or the shortened form XL Fusion Engine, is similar to a Fusion Engine except that it weighs less and takes up space in the side torsos as well. The total amount of space taken up by the engine is double that of a standard engine. This makes it more likely to be hit by enemy fire and reduces the space available for other components, though the reduced weight means that it sees wide use (as evidenced by the long list of manufacturers below).
Clan versions of the XL Fusion Engine take up less space than Inner Sphere versions, roughly 167% the space of a standard engine.
